The first precept of the Church states: "You shall attend Mass on Sundays and on holy days of obligation and rest from servile labor." Holy days of obligation are days set apart for the celebration of the principal feast days of the Church. By gathering together to worship and celebrate the Eucharist, Christians are nourished spiritually by their communion with God and neighbor and bear witness to the promise of salvation.
