Catholic Community of South Baltimore

Holy Cross,     Our Lady of Good Counsel,     Saint Mary Star of the Sea,

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism

Each generation of our Church has inherited something from the previous generations.  We have inherited the churches, residences and the education facilities as a part of our legacy from our ancestors.  However, long before any of our current buildings existed, there was a “catholic community in South Baltimore.”  Most importantly, we have inherited the faith and ministry from those who have passed it along to us.

The Catholic Community of South Baltimore is a spiritual institution, yet we face daunting financial challenges.  Despite our best efforts to economize, we experience unavoidable increases in the costs of basic operations, as well as greater expenditures to fund critical ministry initiatives.

Giving is a very important part of the life of a person devoted to Jesus Christ. More and more Catholics are responding to the idea of giving a gift that forever perpetuates our Catholic faith. Your gift is a concrete way to express gratitude to God for a lifetime of blessings. The gift you give also establishes a lasting legacy of love for others by enabling the Church to continue the preservation and expansion of our Catholic heritage through its many ministries.

There are many ways to give a gift and many types of Church ministry that could be assisted here at the Catholic Community of South Baltimore.

Depending on your situation, there are different ways to structure your gift so that you can receive regular income during your lifetime, save on taxes, or both. We recognize that many people want to help others and want to express their gratitude to God through a legacy gift, but simply do not know how.

Bequests are the simplest form of planned gift, but there are also many other ways for you to help us continue our ministries.  Gifts through one’s will qualify for a charitable deduction, which may reduce one’s estate taxes and preserve more of the donor’s assets for family and other intended beneficiaries. Please let us know if you have already planned a bequest to benefit the parishes of the Catholic Community of South Baltimore or if you need further information on how you can make a gift through a bequest. We would like to thank you for your thoughtful planning by recognizing you as a Founding member of the Catholic Community of South Baltimore’s Legacy League.

We would like to make it easy for you to make a lasting gift and receive the benefits of doing so. We have partnered with the Catholic Family Foundation, of the Archdiocese of Baltimore to provide information for those interested in helping the Catholic Community of South Baltimore in this way.  Please call the parish office at 410-752-8498 or Jim Edwards at 410-625-8497 at the Catholic Family Foundation.  Either Jim or I would be glad to speak with you in confidence about the types of ministry that you could support by establishing your own legacy or to discuss the various types of giving options.
