The Mission of the Catholic Community of South Baltimore is to know, love and serve God and embrace our wider family by living the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy: following the example of Christ, caring for all of God's creations, and protecting the dignity of life.
Parish Town Hall next Sunday, May 19
at 2pm @ Knights of Columbus Hall
Holy Spirit Novena
We are a week from celebrating the Holy Day of Pentecost, the “birthday of the Church,” when the Holy Spirit was given to the Apostles to go out on mission. Certainly, we need a lot of grace from the Holy Spirit in these days. Here you’ll find a link to a Novena to the Holy Spirit, a prayer that we can offer for nine consecutive days in which we ask for particular graces to help us in this mission. I invite you to pray the novena each day with other members of the parish, to invite God’s Spirit to renew us and our community.
Currently, the proposal is to close both St. Mary Star of the Sea and Our Lady of Good Counsel.
From the Archdiocese:
Your constructive feedback, suggestions and perspective will help shape the Archbishop’s decision. All correspondence and testimony is being documented.
Seek the City to Come has been a two-year journey to shape the vision of the Church in Baltimore City by reimagining and revitalizing the Catholic experience.
We continue to thank all those who have participated and offered their voices. We also request prayers for all of those in our Seek parishes, the ultimate fulfillment of our Eucharistic vision and vibrancy of the City Church to come.

expanding service opportunities - volunteers needed
We are looking to expand our service opportunities -- and we need you!
One role we need is a few leaders for Baltimore Station. A leader would attend most months (we go on the last Tuesday of the month from 5-7pm), send emails to our Baltimore Station email list, and share photos for social media.
We're also looking to start a Neighborhood Cleanup Team. If you're interested in periodic dates to beautify the neighborhood, you'd be part of a leadership team to pick the block(s) to clean that month, the date/time/any casual outing afterwards, and share the opportunity with the neighborhood association, parish, etc.
If interested in either service opportunity, email Beth Mayr at beth.mayr@archbalt.org.

ways to help with the bridge collapse
If you’d like to help Dcn. Steve and other CCSB parishioners as we plan to serve lunch to the Salvage Workers, or make food and again visit the stranded crews, or (in the future) look for ways to begin supporting families of port workers who have been furloughed, please contact Dcn. Steve at BeMoreSALT@gmail.com or 443-671-7417.
Donate directly to the organizations below, or via check to CCSB, credit card, or Venmo @CCSB9, memo "April Poor Box."
Through Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Highlandtown, offer financial assistance to the families.
Catholic Charities’ Esperanza Center is also working with the community and Baltimore City to make sure needs are met.

Chapter 11 Publication Notice and Related Information
The Archdiocese of Baltimore is in a Chapter 11 Reorganization process and as we all work through these steps, there are some items that the parish is doing to fulfill the court ordered requirements. One of those requirements is for all parishes and schools to make public that a final date has been decided upon that will serve as a deadline for anyone who has a claim, to submit it to the court.
DEADLINE: MAY 31, 2024
The purpose of sharing and posting this information is to make sure we inform as many people as possible about the final date to file a claim. We understand that this announcement is a reminder of that tragic time. We appreciate your patience as we share this information. Please see here for more information or visit www.archbalt.org.
Thank you,
Fr. Kevin Ewing
