"And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden." - Genesis 3:8
In this verse, we see a God who, in his love, meets us in his creation, walks with us, and seeks us out in relationship, despite our mistakes. Harper's Ferry is a historic and scenic setting to wonder at the beauty of reality and to re-ground ourselves in God's creation, through his love.
TRANSPORTATION
We will meet at Holy Cross Church (110 E West St., Baltimore, MD 21230) at 8:45 a.m. and depart for Harper's Ferry at 9:00 a.m. We are also seeking volunteers for carpools; let us know below if you are able to drive! (You will be reimbursed per mile.)
PRAYER
The day will include the opportunity for prayer and sacramental confession, and should include an opportunity for daily Mass. (You will still need to go to Mass at CCSB on Sunday!) Full schedule TBD. We will return by 8 p.m.
HIKE
Please note the trails are considered to be difficult, rated moderately strenuous to strenuous with steep, rocky inclines and declines. The hike is estimated to take about 4 hours.
FOOD
Bring snacks for the ride and pack a lunch to eat on the trails during the hike. We'll end the day with a meal together at a local restaurant in Harper's Ferry! We will split the check for dinner. Participants are responsible for the cost of dinner. Be sure to bring enough water for the day, too (at least 1 liter)--because we may not literally experience "the cool of the day" in August.
COST
Cost is $10 per person. Please Venmo @CCSB9 with the memo "Harper's Ferry," or we can also accept cash or check the morning of the event.
Guests (young adult friends from outside CCSB, both members of the Catholic Church or any religious background) are welcome.
Please contact Father Thomas O'Donnell at thomas.odonnell@archbalt.org with any questions regarding the event or financial concerns.
We can't wait to see you out there!
