CCSB volunteers love serving at Baltimore Station!

Baltimore Station

Baltimore Station is an innovative therapeutic residential and outpatient treatment program supporting veterans who are overcoming obstacles to regain self-sufficiency. Located right in South Baltimore, Baltimore Station and CCSB have partnered together for over two decades. We have opportunities for serving a meal at Baltimore Station every second Wednesday, and on "even" months on the last Thursday. We also support Baltimore Station through fundraisers, including virtual trivia, past Advent Giving Trees, and more.

To learn more or to sign up to volunteer, join our CCSB at Baltimore Station email list.

Casserole Support for Catholic Charities

We support people experiencing hunger by making casseroles at home for various Catholic Charities programs. View recipe options for My Sister's Place Women's Center, and labeling instructions.

You may drop off casseroles at the freezer in Holy Cross Hall. If you walk into Holy Cross Church, head straight back to the Hall, past the church on your right. When entering the Hall, the kitchen is in the back left corner. The freezer is the top of the tan refrigerator on your right. If the freezer is close to full, please contact Beth Mayr at beth.mayr@archbalt.org. Please shut the kitchen and Hall doors when you leave.

You may drop off a few minutes before or after any Mass at Holy Cross (Sundays 9am and 5pm, or Thursdays at 8am). You may also drop off when the office is open (M-Th 9-3) - please call ahead to arrange: 410-752-8498. Thank you for your generosity!

Archdiocese of Baltimore Grief Ministry

Perishable Food Shopper Volunteers Needed! Each week on Mondays, volunteer "perishable food shoppers" deliver fresh foods to the Grief Ministry Panty. On Tuesdays, pantry volunteers bundle both this fresh/perishable food (that you dropped off) and non-perishable items (already stocked in the pantry) into care packages. Every Wednesday, the Homicide Survivor Advocate Unit of the Baltimore City Police Department (BPD) picks up these Grief Ministry Care Packages for delivery to families throughout Baltimore City who have recently lost a loved one to homicide. The packages provide a bridge for BPD staff to enter the homes of grieving families with a tangible sign of the community's concern and care. Survivor families directly request this assistance from the BPD.

Range of costs/expected $$ per month? You can spend as little as $25 every time you shop- once every 2-3 months. Some volunteers choose to spend more (esp. if it is a large family with children).

Do families make a wish list / how do we know what to get? We provide a suggested list of items (view here), which includes milk, butter, eggs, bread, deli, cheese, and fresh fruit and vegetables. We have nonperishable food already stocked in the pantry- canned and boxed foods, condiments, toilet paper, diapers, and etc. (No prepared foods, please. Just sealed and fresh groceries.)

When can drop-off happen? Anytime Monday! There is a lockbox key outside the Grief Ministry Pantry- so you can key in and store food in the refrigerator.

How often would I be signing up for? We maintain a list of volunteer "perishable food shoppers" and hope to schedule you to support one family every 2-3 months (4-6x/ year).

How much notice do I get for my week? We seek to solicit "shoppers" from our list of volunteers to set a schedule at least one month ahead of time.

What else is added to support the families? Each week on Tuesday, a small team of volunteer "packers" put together the Grief Ministry Care Packages- including nonperishable canned and boxed food, household items (cleaning solutions and toilet paper), diapers, etc.

Where is the Grief Ministry Pantry located? The pantry is located in the basement of the rectory of Holy Cross Catholic Church (110 E. West St).
