The Mission of the Catholic Community of South Baltimore is to know, love and serve God and embrace our wider family by living the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy: following the example of Christ, caring for all of God's creations, and protecting the dignity of life.

CCSB offers both daily and weekend masses across the three churches of Holy Cross, St. Mary Star of the Sea, and Our Lady of Good Counsel. These three parishes were combined under one legal state corporation and one canonical Roman Catholic parish in July 2018. Review Archdiocesan & Parish News here.

Help us collect school supplies for the students (all male) of St. Ignatius of Loyola Academy by bringing items to mass and leaving them in the designated boxes at the back of the church. We need pens, pencils, glue sticks, notebooks, paper, folders, highlighters, crayons, etc. Thank you!

2019-20 RELIGIOUS ED

It is time to register your child for Religious Education. If your child is anticipating receiving his/her first Eucharist in second grade, he/she needs to be enrolled for two years in a religious ed program (i.e. starting in first grade!). If your child is enrolled in Catholic School, this is waived; however, they will need to attend Sacramental Preparation classes through the parish for First Reconciliation and First Eucharist. Classes are held Monday nights at Good Counsel from 6:15-7:30 pm.
Register your child.

YOUTH PROGRAM

The parish is starting a new program for middle and high school students. Please contact Trish at gillinp@calverthall.com to show interest, hear or share suggestions. Help us to guide our youth on their continuing journey.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS

RCIA classes meet weekly, September through April, to discuss what makes the Catholic faith rich, deep, and distinct. The process of faith formation follows the liturgical year of the Church, and is punctuated throughout with rituals that bring you closer to communion with Christ and His people before culminating in reception into the Church during the Easter Vigil. Faith is a journey, a road we all travel. Don't be afraid to take your first steps with us. Contact Lisa Reid, LisaEReid@gmail.com or 410-917-2266.

Liturgical Ministers Needed

As people move away, the roster of liturgical volunteers needs to be expanded, especially with Fr. Laws arriving soon. Even if your schedule does not allow you to be assigned to a liturgical schedule, consider being an on-call or walk-in substitute when you arrive to mass to see if help is needed. Each volunteer must complete online Youth & Child Protection training. We need altar servers, Eucharistic ministers, greeters, van drivers, readers, and ushers!

GIVE

There are a variety of easy ways to give back to help support the parish family. Give to:

Archdiocesan Annual Appeal - UPDATE

The Archdiocesan Annual Appeal gives us an opportunity to make a commitment to “lift up the lowly” supporting the needs of the poor, homeless and vulnerable. Our parish goal is $38,414 and, so far, $36,995 has been pledged. We receive a 25% rebate of those funds ($7,077) to use for capital projects. Let us try to meet the goal and in doing so, receive a higher rebate. Please make a pledge if you haven’t already!

Reminder: If you would prefer to give to the parish or make your offertory online, you may do so by scanning a QR code from a card available at the back of the church. Be sure to pick up a card
the next time you are at mass.
